Assam used to be referred to as pragjyotishpur and Kamrup. অসমক আগতে প্ৰাগজ্যোতিষপুৰ আৰু কামৰূপ বুলি কোৱা হৈছিল।
Pragjyotishpur প্ৰাগজ্যোতিষপুৰ
- Ancient Assam is mentioned in the Mahabharta and Ramayana as Pragjyotishpur. প্ৰাচীন অসমক মহাভাৰত আৰু ৰামায়ণত প্ৰাগজ্যোতিষপুৰ বুলি উল্লেখ আছে।
- Regarding the name “Pragjyotisha” or “Pragjyotishpura”, the historian Edward Gait writes that prag means “former” or “eastern” and jyotisha “a star” or astrology. Pragjyotishpura, therefore, means the “City of Eastern Astrology”.এডোৱাৰ্ড গেইটৰ ‘A History of Assam’ -ত উল্লেখ কৰিছে যে প্ৰাগ (Prag) শব্দৰ অৰ্থ হৈছে পূব দিশ আৰু জ্যোতিষ (Jyotish) শব্দৰ অৰ্থ হৈছে নক্ষত্ৰ বা জ্যোতিষ বিদ্যা। অৰ্থাৎ ‘পূৱৰ জ্যোতিষ চৰ্চাৰ নগৰ’ (City of Eastern Astrology) বুলি ধৰি ল’ব পাৰি।
Kamrup কামৰূপ
The term Kamarupa was first mentioned in Samudragupta’s famous Allahabad Pillar Inscription (350-375 CE)। সমুদ্ৰগুপ্তৰ বিখ্যাত এলাহাবাদ স্তম্ভ শিলালিপিত (৩৫০-৩৭৫ খ্ৰীষ্টাব্দ) কামৰূপ শব্দটো প্ৰথম উল্লেখ কৰা হৈছিল।
Kalika Puran কালিকা পুৰাণ : –
- Considerd as the highest source of the Prehistory period of Assam. অসমৰ প্ৰাগঐতিহাসিক যুগৰ সৰ্বোচ্চ উৎস হিচাপে বিবেচিত।
- The Temple of Kamakhya was in the centre of Kamrupa. কামাখ্যা মন্দিৰ কামৰূপৰ মাজমজিয়াত আছিল।
Yogini Tantra যোগিনী তন্ত্ৰ :
- Yogini Tantra mentioned that Ratnapith, Kampith, Swanapith and Saumarpith were the four divisions of the ancient Kamrupa. যোগিনী তন্ত্ৰই উল্লেখ কৰিছে যে প্ৰাচীন কামৰূপৰ চাৰিটা ভাগ আছিল – ৰত্নপীঠ, কামপিঠ, স্বৰ্ণপীঠ আৰু সৌমাৰপীঠ |
